Public Health Agency As from 1 April 2009 all Northern Neighbourhoods Health Action Zone responsibilities have been transferred to the Public Health Agency

The Northern Neighbourhoods Health Action Zone (NNHAZ) is a community-led partnership initiative that aims to reduce health inequalities and improve the health and social wellbeing of people and communities living within the Northern Health and Social Services Board (NHSSB) area. The NNHAZ initiative is currently operational in 14 neighbourhoods throughout the NHSSB area.

A key feature of the work is the preparation of targeted ‘Community Action Plan’, tailored to local needs in each partner community. Relevant agencies, with responsibility for planning and delivering services, are invited to co-operate in implementing the ‘Community Action Plan’ in partnership with the local community. Progress against the ‘Community Action Plan’ is monitored and reviewed through Interagency Partnerships in each neighbourhood.

Effective targeting of health and social needs requires the input and commitment of a number of organisations working together in a concerted, forward looking way. Through the Northern Neighbourhoods Health Action Zone, more than 32 partners from community, voluntary and statutory organisations are working together to create stronger, healthier and more prosperous communities that value and include all their citizens.

As a partnership, we will work with local communities to create;

"A safe place to live, a good place to live, a healthy place to live"
